TABGON, CARAMOAN, CAMARINES SUR.  Tabgon is one barangay of a very widely spread remote town of Caramoan. In total Caramoan has 39,416 people.  Tabgon is on the opposite side of a mountain range from the main town proper. It is several hours of hard travel from Goa.  Caramoan has 50 Barangay, many of which are remote islands or mountain villages with no gospel witness.  We have teamed up with a church in Tabgon to reach the unreached Barangay of Caramoan.  We completed construction of a church building in Tabgon in 2005.   The mission has bought a boat to help us with island outreach. Travel from Manila to Tabgon takes from 16 to 24 hours, by way of Naga City.  We then go out to mountain villages on foot or to the islands by boat.  We often need to carry all our equipment with us, including a generator.  These are primitive and isolated places with no existing gospel witness.  In addition to taking the message to these places, our task is to build up the leadership and ministry of church in Tabgon to be able to properly care for the new Christians in all these places.

The three pictures above are:

1. The temporary location covered with blue plastic where the congregation met for many years.

2. The land we bought in 2004 to construct a building.

3. The nearly finished building in September 2005.

BICOL REGION.

CARAMOAN  is part of the BICOL REGION of the Philippines:
BICOL is the area southeast of Manila at the southern end of Luzon Island  Both our church in Navotas and I, individually, have devoted much of our mission outreach efforts here for many  years.  This is basically an agricultural area.  They speak a different dialect, Bicolano, with a number of other minor dialects among mountain tribes.  Except for a few cities in the area, it has been mostly neglected by missionary efforts since World War II.  We have focused our attention and strategy in this area in three basic areas: Ragay, Goa and Caramoan.
